6.9.2 - All of a sudden Status Down

KesshinKesshin
I am using ServersCheck 6.9.2 and it has been functioning fine now for several years.

About a week ago, we discovered that the statuses on the Dashboard view are not correct. After tinkering around with the serverscheck.conf file and .dat files, all of our systems just show a status of DOWN now.

I have tried reinserting the original copies of the .conf files but still get the same result. Also, the ServersCheck Monitoring Service seems to just stop after 5 to 10 minutes. We have tried rebooting the ServersCheck server as well.

The windows event log does not show any errors or warnings - but around the time that the problem started, the following information events started to generate:

Source: ServersCheck Configuration

Event ID: 1

The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( ServersCheck Configuration ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: [0] .

The application, C:Program FilesServersCheckmonitoring_rule.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 06/18/2008 @ 20:39:33.445 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 77BD8173 (MSVCRT!memmove)

The dump from DrWatson shows:

I also tried the debugging the monitoring_manager.exe - I am not sure what I am looking for but I see many entries like these:

Other than starting from scratch, any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you in advance for your time.

If it has been running fine for several years, then most probably something on your system must have changed causing it to fail.

Maybe you have installed software on the system that conflicts with ServersCheck or that did overwrite some settings.

We had 2 weeks ago the issue of a false positive with AVG's Antivirus software that did remove the s-server.exe

I would recommend reinstalling the software if you still have the installer.

6.9.2 is an old release and since then many changes have been made. It is no longer supported.

You might want to check against the 7.11 trial version to see if that works fine on your system if the reinstall of the 6.9.2 does not work. Keep in mind that you will need a new license file or need to purchase an upgrade license if you want to keep on using 7.11

Thank you very much for your reply.

Actually, we tried creating a new VM and then reinstalling 6.9.2 from the original installer. We are also not using AVG.

We will try 7.11 but it is unfortunate as we really would like to avoid paying full price for an upgrade since the version we were using worked fine.

Anyway, thank you again for your time and assistance.

We have many users running olders versions than 6.9.2 still to date. This means that older versions are still running within our customer base and that for quite some years.

If the software stops all the sudden, then something must have changed on the platform. Typically these are:

    - Windows updates

    - other software installed causing conflict

We can't provide support for out of support versions as issues that one faces may have been resolved since then and if we bring out a fix then this will always be for the most current release.
