Connection refused - crashes in email/sms

mknausmknaus
Hello,

we are currently evaluating the current build of servercheck monitoring software and are very interested in the product, though we are encountering several errors while configuration and setting up the notification options.

We installed the monitoring software on a virtual machine, running XP Professional as OS. We can successfully setup servers from our environment and many other things, but once we are trying to configure the email or sms notification, the whole application seems to crash.

We are using an external Exchange 2000 server, which is reachable from the machine and listens to incoming mail traffic on port 26 without authentification. Once we submit the settings and try an email test, the whole web server seems to crash. The request times out and the whole website is not reachable anymore from that time until we restart the services. The same thing occurs with the sms module. It detects the Modem Driver, I submit the settings but once I submit a test sms, it crashes.

If I edit the smtp configuration file manually and start the alert-smtp.exe the email is sent successfully. The same thing with the GSM Modem Tester application. If i enter the settings there, the text message is processed without problems.

We do have a Spam Gateway as well which listens on smtp port 25 for incoming mail traffic. If I send it to the spam gateway, through the web configuration the test email is delivered without letting the application crash. Though, it doesn't make much sense for us to send the email notifications through the spam gateway first.

In general, especially after trying to send a test email/sms, we encounter some problems with the internal webserver as well. Suddenly the page is not reachable anymore.

Can you help us with that topics? We already decided to buy your product :-) if we can get it running properly.

Kind regards,
