Linux Health - Free Memory

jbastianjbastian
Memory is reporting 1GB free(4%), even using the free or top commands but that's completely wrong. Anyone get the same results? Shouldn't we be looking at cache buffers?

We moved your question at the same time as you did post it.

We will continue it in here.

    Here was our answer:

Can you clarify: is ServersCheck reporting it incorrect or is the Linux command not reporting it correctly?

If ServersCheck, then do as follows:

1/ Run the web server in debug mode as outlined here

    http://kb.serverscheck.com/index.php?page=index_v2&id=38&c=root

2/ Edit the LINUXHEALTH rule and click on settings

3/ Submit the debug.log file as a reply

    Thanks,

Linux commands Top and Free are reporting 1GB of my 24GB ram free. Thats because most of the RAM has been allocated by the kernel and converted to cache buffers.

might be better to use the -/+ buffers/cache line from free to report the free memory? The values currently returned are not indicative of server memory health.
