Expansion 4Hub Power Fail input

Hi all!
I have been using the v5.1 base and the 4Hub for a short while, I would like to use the PowerFail input put don't want to blow the hub up! what is required to use it? I am guessing a 12v input but don't want to blow the hub up and have to pay for a repair, Thanks!
