Upgrade from 5.6.1 to 5.11.1 failed

Hi I just tried to do an update from version 5.6.1 Professional to the latest version 5.11.1
I used the update.exe utility to do the update.
When i started it, it told me that a new update was available and to grab a new license key, which i did.
After clicking 'yes' to the key upgrade notice, it downloads a couple of the files (sizes: 768k, 968k, 48k,67k), but then stops and gives the following error message in a dialog box:
Failed to download file from Web. (#6, Line 17)
The update process then fails at this step. I tried this several times.
As an alternative, i have tried downloading the version of the website, but it wants to install to a different directory (C:Program FilesServersCheck Monitoring) to the one the current version is installes in (C:Program FilesServersCheck). I didn't do that as i did not want to lose all my rule definitions.
Can you please advise me as to how i should proceed from here.
