what is monitoring_test.exe ??

Hi all
I've noticed in the watcher log monitoring_test.exe has appeared suddenly in the log. Since these entries appeared in the log several of my monitors have stopped working correctly. The last uptime check on these stopped monitors is from the previous day. The timing of the last update date and time is very close to when this particular entry in the watcher log appears.
has anyone experience this issue. I'm not sure what monitoring_test.exe does. is there a way to disable it or is it a key function of the product ?
I cannot find any reference to this exe in the wiki manuals.
