    If I go to the above link and select SensorGateway v4 which I assume is what the device refers to as Hardware Version: Release 4, it brings up a page that indicated Firmware Version: Release 2.11. Does that imply that all the other higher releases of firmware are not applicable to this SensorGateway v4 device?

    Due to hardware resources restrictions of the v4, that is indeed correct.
