ServersCheck monitoring appliance

cissecisse

I was working on the serverscheck appliance remotely when I log off and wanted to connect again then this error came:

A kernel file is missing from the disk.

Insert a system diskette and restart the system.

1. I have booted from the windows cd but I can't have access to the

second repair option which will enable me to overwrite the installation.

2. I have accessed the first repair option, which gave me access to the

recovery console and I ran this command: chkdsk /r /p

Thereafter, I am still getting the above output.

The issue is resulting from an improper shutdown causing a damage in the Boot partition. A log off doesn't perform a shut down. The error message given can only be visible when connecting a screen to it and is the result of a reboot.

If you have a Windows XP CD, then you can solve it as follows:

    1) Boot with the Windows CD

    2) Type 'R' for repair

    3) In the DOS mode login using your username & password

    4) When logged in, go to the system32 subfolder, so

    CD system32

    5) In there perform those 2 commands:

    Fixmbr

    Fixboot

Thank you I created a new bootsector (Fixboot ) and it works.
