Configuration Wizard

kathleynekathleyne
I previously installed the trial version with no challenges. Now I am having trouble with the live production version I have purchased. When the configuration wizard gets to the point where it asks for my email address to test send, I click OK and it immediately goes to the screen asking about my ISP. The test message does not arrive. Fine, I choose my ISP. Then the wizard pop up screen times out and I get page cannot be displayed. I have cycled the services and restarted the server.

If you still have your trial version then you can copy the conf files from there (/conf subfolder)

Typically the issue is a firewall blocking port 25 on a server or the Antivirus software running on it blocking it.

If you run the webserver in debug mode as per knowledge base (http://kb.serverscheck.com) and repeat the ISP selection, then you might see where it "hangs" Feel free to post the debug output in this forum

OK - tried copying those files and no dice. So I ran in debug mode. Here's the output:

    # Sat Feb 13 18:02:17 2010 file master.log cleaned

OK based on the output it stops where it is trying to connect (not yet sending) to your ISP's mail server on port 25. Something on your system is blocking outgoing port 25. Typically this is a firewall or antivirus software.

If you have AV or a firewall on the system, then disable both and try again. If it works, then the issue is in the configuration of your AV software or firewall.

sorry-forgot to mention no firewall windows or otherwise a no av yet. Checked the enterprise firewall also & no restrictions.

Try upgrading to the latest release 8.0.8 by following instructions here:

    http://wiki.serverscheck.com/index.php/Upgrade

The upgrade completed fine, but no joy for a fix. Is still does exactly the same thing.

I've removed serverscheck now, and restarted the server. Ran Windows updates just to be sure everything was in a good place. Removed the folders left by the uninstall process. Reloaded the program. Ran the upgrade. Applied the license and restarted the service.

I still get the same error when going through the configuration wizard, but now I'm testing it by bypassing this and going directly to the manual configuration.

Got it working by completely bypassing the configuration wizard & doing it manually. Which is fine, but something is still flukey. Thanks!
