Moving software different server
Hi guys,
I’m running ServersCheck 7.1.0 purchased back in May of 2007. I think I only had the year of support that would have came with this at the time. I’m having trouble getting rid of an error that intermittently occurs after rebooting the server hosting this software (usually 3 reboots will make this stop).
The error is: status of TEMPERATURE ( - ) changed to OK at Wed Sep 16 15:11:17 2009. Reason: Recovered from last error: Unable to open COM port 1
I suspect the BES software that is also running on this box may be messing with COM1 (even though it’s set not to touch COM1) upon boot up.
So, I wish to move this ServersCheck software to a different Server. I have seen KB ID: 11, to confirm:
-Am I allowed to move this to a new server if I have no current support agreement?
-If so do I need a new license file (and how do I get that)?
-And finally can I upgrade to the latest version or where would I obtain the old 7.1 install file?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Norbert

Customers can purchase the software on a media or as download.
In the email containing the original license file, users are reminded to make a backup of the installer of the original installer as older versions can't be made available mainly due to third party licensing restrictions.
The software is not time limited nor system limited: you can move to a new server as long as you keep the number of units in production as licensed for. In your case only one system may be running at the same time. You can do this as often as you want; provided you have the original installer and your license file (as reminded in the original email)
If you have the installer of 7.1 then your original license file is fine. It will not work against release 8
If you don't have the software backup of 7.1 or wish to use release 8, then a new license has to be purchased.
Another an more simple option is to remove the BES software from that system.
