Best external mail alerts

Hello,

I'm configuring the Serverscheck to use an external mail server to send the alerts, because the internal seems not to check if the mail is delivered and some mails are lost.



I've tried with a Hotmail account but every week the account is disabled and I must log into the hotmail web and solve a puzzle (to avoid spammers).



I'm trying to configure GMAIL but I'm not able to get it.



Have you ever configured GMAIL to use it with the externam mail server?



I use smtp.gmail.com , SSL, 465 port and it doesn't work.



Could somebody help me?
